Kristin Hubbard and I have been friends for about 8 years and she is the genius behind my logo and branding and many other things.

I'm so very excited to photograph her wedding this April because the girls got incredible taste!

Here are a handful of the best shots from the sweet little New Years Eve wedding I shot...
Zach and Vanessa contacted me about a month and a half before their wedding to see if I was interested in shooting their quick and intimate ceremony with 10 people in the Bloedel Conservatory here in Vancouver.
I loved the simplicity of the wedding and also the unusual location. As you can see it was surprisingly dark in there which led to some lighting challenges but I feel it also lends the photos a distinct mood.
What a wonderful way to ring in the new year!!!

What a year!

2010 has been such a wonderful year for me. I've had so many great adventures, in my own backyard and in other countries.

I've done work I'm immensely proud of, made new friends, met wonderful clients and pushed my creative juices more than any other year!

I'm so grateful for 2010, for the support of my friends and family and of course the love of my man Colin.

I simply can't wait to see what goodies 2011 has in store :) :) :)

So winter is definitely here and as usual I go into a bit of a hibernation mode. Things slow down, the weather gets colder, I start dreaming of skiing... I know its been ages since I've posted but brace yourself for a super cute one!
Meet Sophia. She's 7 months old and a little sweetheart. Last weekend I met her and her parents at their place and we had fun getting to know each other and documenting her in all her uber cuteness.

Meet Laura Sharp.

Laura is the talent behind White Owl Ceramic Studio based in Calgary, AB. We became fast friends ages ago in art school and I have enjoyed how our friendship and love has deepened over the years. I also have enjoyed watching her progression from art student to teacher and professional artist :)
My kitchen cupboards are a tribute to her work - I can't resist getting something new every time I see her as her work evolves.
Which means I'll be getting a couple more pieces in a few of weeks when she is here in Vancouver for the One Of A Kind Show And Sale at the New Vancouver Convention Centre on December 9-12th. (Check out the website here.) If you're looking for some amazing bowls, mugs, teapots, jewelry, etc, either for yourself or for Christmas prezzies, I recommend you check it out!
Below are a few samples of her recent work that I own to give you an idea of what she does...

PATAGONIA BOOK :: VANCOUVER TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHER

In 2006 my dad and I took a trip we had been talking about for quite some time. We went trekking in Patagonia, near the Southern tip of Argentina and Chile. I had been there in 2001 and had told him it was a place he had to see in his lifetime!

Over the course of a month we went from Santiago to Concepcion to visit my World Vision Sponsor child Eduardo, then to Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales, then to Buenos Aires. It was spectacular father/daughter trip full of the things that mean the most to my dad and I; mountains, camping, the outdoors, new cultures and new beers ;)

This summer was his 60th birthday and I finally made him a hard cover book to commemorate our trip.
He loved it. I love it too.
Its so nice to have a tangible keepsake to leaf through and show to friends!

I love fall.
Me and millions of others!
But it seems like fall is especially gorgeous here in the Westend of Vancouver. The brilliance of the leaves is almost blinding. The colours shock your eyes the way the colour of tropical water shocks you after a drab winter. I find myself constantly picking up pretty leaves like a kid and bringing them home with me - our balcony is covered in them ;)

MARITES & TYSON :: ENGAGED!!!

Marites and Tyson crack each other up. Constantly. They crack me up too!
On Friday the two of them introduced me to the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Delta. I loved it! We had tons of fun walking around, feeding the birds and chatting. The sun was out, it was a perfect fall day and it was so natural :)
The love between Marites and Tyson is so obvious and so contagious - I can't wait to shoot their wedding in May!

I'm so excited!!!
Yesterday Tim and Michelle's wedding album and parent albums was delivered from Fed Ex. It was like Christmas! I was sooo excited to see the culmination of their beautiful wedding, the photos, my design and Finao's album genius :)
And it was even BETTER than what I was expecting!
Oh Finao, I *heart* you!

I couldn't resist taking a few photos to show everyone - aren't they stunning???

They came wrapped in recycled pineapple leaf paper with a mulberry leaf bow!

The cover is super shiny acrylic and the leather wraps around the spine and covers the back.

Lays flat - no split in the middle :)

CALIFORNIA CULT CLASSICS :: A NAPA VALLEY WINERY IN VANCOUVER

Last week I was lucky enough to shoot a lovely get together of fine wine paired perfectly with amazing food. California Cult Classics is a unique winery here in Vancouver that makes outrageous wine from Napa grapes. See what they are all about here.
My friend Chef Salina Beaudoin worked with owner Frank Gigliotti to create an incredible menu that complimented the featured wines. Just look at the food!

HAWAII TRIP :: PART ONE!

My friend Jess asked me at the end of August if I wanted to join her mid-September for a week in Maui - she'd gotten her hands on some cheap tickets and hadn't been on a vacation for 10 YEARS!!!!
Ummmm - OF COURSE!!!!! Silly question! I live to travel :)
So off we went for a super relaxing week of chilling out, adventures and crossing things off the old bucket list.
Thank you so much Jess, it was exactly what I needed after a busy summer - and what greater way to celebrate your 35th birthday!

I have also known the Borsheims since I was about 14 when Brad and I met and discovered mutual past times like skiing and rock climbing.

We've ski patrolled together at Apex, I've visited him in the hospital when he broke his leg doing 360s, we even went to Mountaineering school together in the Rockies after high school. I've kinda always considered Brad the brother I never had and although we've grown up and gone in slightly different directions I still love having that history :)

So of course I was excited to meet his new little one and photograph his lovely family, his parents and his brother's family last weekend.

Celine is a dear friend of mine that goes all the way back to when I was about 14 so we got to experience the finest of the '90s fashions. (Shudder!)
I had the good fortune to be in the Okanagan this last weekend visiting my parents so we got together to catch up and take family pics.
Despite the howling hurricane of a south wind we had fun running around with her 3 kids who, as you will see, must keep her on her toes! I have crazy respect for moms, especially those with more than one!
Thank you Celine for a fun afternoon - I hope we can do it again next year at the ranch :)

When the Gibsons emailed me to see about doing family photos of them with their 11 month old Sadie and their Dachshund Molly I leapt at the opportunity!
Not only am I a sucker for cute babies (who can resist those toes and dimples I ask you) but I love photographing super cute, full-of-character dogs.
The weather was good to us,the rain held off more or less until the end and Sadie was super happy - full of smiles and curiosity for all the goings on at the beach.

Erin contacted me recently to take some photos of her newest addition before she outgrew her perfect puppy ways.

Luna is a miniature bull terrier and I think I'm in love.

No really.

She was so fun and so hilarious and so well behaved that I had a real hard time saying goodbye to her at the end of the session!

ELLA PERU :: GENERATION NEXT FASHION SHOW

Last Thursday night I had the opportunity to take some more photos of what has become my favorite local clothing line, Ella Peru.
Generation Next is a designer competition and fashion show here in Vancouver and last year Su-hui Chu won Western Canada's most stylish new designer. As last years winner she was invited back to show 19 outfits from next years collection, and she wowed the audience once again.

PAULA + MATT :: MARRIED! BODEGA RIDGE WEDDING

Weddings are happy occasions, its true, and I have one of the greatest jobs on the planet - to capture the fun and love and happiness of that day. I find it extremely rewarding being surrounded by such large quantities of love and giving my brides and groom a record of those memories.

But I tell ya, I haven't laughed so much or seen people laugh as much as last Saturday. The wedding was one of the larger ones I've seen at Bodega Ridge Resort and every, single person attending was there to show big love and support to Paula and Matt! Even their ring-bearing doodle Oscar :)

Paula looked incredible and so happy as her dad proudly led her down the aisle. And the groom managed to look both GQ and casual in his shorts and sandals. Their love just glowed!

Thank you so much you two for having me there with you and I'm so glad to have had the chance to get to know you both and discover we share a few of the same friends!

GARIBALDI LAKE & BLACK TUSK

Last weekend Colin and I went up to Garibaldi Lake with his best friend who was in town visiting from Taiwan. I have been talking about a proper camping trip for oh, about 4 months now so I think Colin was anxious to go and shut me up! Ha!

It was just a quickie; up to Garibaldi Lake Friday afternoon, scrambled up Black Tusk Saturday and back down Sunday afternoon. The weather was surprising good and it felt wonderful to get up high in the backcountry with good food and good friends.

KARA & JOEL :: MARRIED ON GALIANO ISLAND!

I first met Kara and Joel face to face just after Christmas when we lucked out with some sunshine and had fun running around doing their engagement photos. This past weekend I got the opportunity to spend Friday and Saturday getting to know them better, as well as their friends and family.

The wedding took place on Galiano Island at Bodega Ridge Resort, which is one of my favorite wedding locations, and I've had the good fortune to shoot half a dozen wedding there over the last few years. The vibe is laid back, the weather was hot, the view amazing, and Joel and Kara were the most relaxed couple ever.

Thank you for choosing me to capture this great day for you, anyone who sees you two together has no doubt how much love there is.

MARLIS + YASSER :: MARRIED!!!

I grew up (more or less) in a tiny village in the Okanagan called Naramata. Those of you familiar with this little town understand what a gem it is. Its paradise - and I'm so glad my parents still live there!

My friend Marlis also grew up there, our parents are still friends, and even though there's 3 years between us we still rode the same bus to school every morning.

So I was very excited when she asked me to be her wedding photographer - even more so when I learned that the wedding party was going to be made up of mutual friends! Fun!

It was a BLAST - as you can see by the photos - and we didn't let the ridiculous rain get in the way either! These two have so much fun together and I just love the way their faces light up when they look at each other...

Saturday was a scorcher but I gotta say, you couldn't have asked for better weather for an Okanagan wedding! The ceremony for this Okanagan boy and Aussie girl took place at the hidden gem of Mountain Springs Nature Retreat (www.mountainspringscentre.ca) - a quiet little paradise and perfect location for a small ceremony. Afterward, they let me drag them all over the countryside and into Penticton for photos - we all must have lost about 20 lbs each in sweat!

And the grand finale was the reception, held at the stunning Linden Gardens in Kaleden (www.lindengardens.ca), which I have been hearing about but had never seen. Incredible!

I want to thank you both for being such great models, for being so very much in love with each other and for putting on such a great party!

Erin and Kent now feel like old friends. I know I've said this before but both Amanda and I really felt a connection with the two of them and I hope we can keep in touch :)
Its completely impossible to tell from the photos but Erin actually gave birth 6 months ago! And the handsome little man with the uber squishy cheeks and snazzy outfit is Reid - what a cutie :)
The laid-back beach wedding was at Jericho Beach by the Tennis Club and perfectly suited these two. Thank you so much for having me there!

GIULIA'S WORK

Giulia is a very talented friend of mine here in Vancouver who makes the most wonderful fashion accessories - with her bare hands!!! Well, and a sewing machine ;)

We got together last week for a super quick, impromptu shoot to show off some of her latest work. She creates beautiful reversible leather belts made from recycled vintage leather jackets backed with old fabrics such as silk from men's ties and retro polyesters. Her scarves are made from strands of cotton thread and yarn sewn together and the hair pieces are recycled vintage silk.

After poo-pooing fashion photography in school, I've discovered that its actually a ton of fun! Of course great models help and a kickass hair and makeup artist :)

Saturday was a fun day!

Michelle and Tim tied the knot at the beautiful rowing club in Stanly Park, and it was a perfect summer day :) I had the privilege of doing their engagement photos back in March amongst the cherry blossoms and had a ton of fun capturing their big day.

Immediately after the ceremony Michelle looked at me with a big grin on her face and said, "Wow! That was fun!" Maybe you had to be there but she looked like an excited little kid and I loved it!

Here are my favorite moments of the day - as you can see I had a crush on the little flowers - so cute!

Every once in a while I get a request from a friend or a friend of a friend, for a large fine art print. Love it!

These two were printed at 11x14 inches on gorgeous metallic archival paper and are heading off to Calgary to their new owner :)

Leanne and I are both Okanagan girls so when she tracked me down last year and asked if I could come to Nanaimo for some family photos I was delighted!

Sunday was a beautiful sunny day on the Island, and it was fun to meet her hubby and two girls and just play around.

As you will notice I couldn't get over the girls' gorgeous eyes and eyelashes - they're going to be stunners!!! Watch out Scott - haha :)
